Yesterday was the start of transforming the garden. It is embarrassing to show you the state in which we let the garden get. However, we need to show you how bad it is at the start. Otherwise, you won’t know how far we have come when it starts looking like a garden that is loved.
Today I focused on tidying, I did not get very far but I definitely made a little headway. I decided I would use the planters by the back door for the strawberry plants. I added compost and more soil to the planters, including a mixture of dried egg shells and tea leaves. We still had quite a few strawberry plants that were from runners from previous years. However, I did also buy a few new strawberry plants to add to these, as the ones we had were very small and were not producing much in the last couple of years.
I cleared all the dead plants out of the various pots that were lined up at the back of the house. I also re-potted any that were still alive. We had a couple of apple tree’s that are still going and are now in bigger pots so hopefully they will start to do a bit better.
I trimmed back some of the branches of the plum tree, as they were blocking out the cherry tree. We can see the mistakes we made when doing the garden initially, and putting the tree’s to close together was one of those mistakes. I also did a small trim of the Camellia Bush so it wasn’t over hanging the Rhubarb. It needs a good cut back, but I will do this properly once it stops flowering. Lastly I did the first trim of the lawn.
Today I am in a little bit of agony, after being lazy for so long, and can barely move. So work will resume tomorrow.

That’s all for today. See you all soon.
